Celebrate Flag Day and the 250th birthday of the United States with the Union Pacific Museum on Sunday, June 14, 2026, as we explore an iconic piece of the Lehigh Valley Railway’s historic route through the Poconos Mountains and Lehigh River Valley.
We are travelling behind the iconic “Big Boy,” UP 4014 as it returns to the Eastern United States for the first time since its construction in 1941. Highlights include traversing the Rockport and White Haven Tunnels and the scenic Leigh River Gorge. This route originally connected the anthracite coal regions of eastern Pennsylvania with the broader U.S. railroad network. |

This excursion is the annual gala fundraiser for the Union Pacific Museum, a 501 c 3 organization. This is a rare opportunity for the public to travel behind this historic locomotive and on this historic heritage equipment.
Tickets for the excursion will go on sale to the public on May 4, 2026. Museum patrons have early access using a special link and code. |
