Onboard Experience:
All visitors will be invited to explore the Union Pacific Experience car display in the Promontory. The Experience is a multi-media walkthrough exhibition that provides a glimpse at the past while telling the story of modern-day railroading. Through sound, images and interactive technology, rail fans will see how Union Pacific is building America in their communities and throughout the world.
This equipment, much of which was built pre-1940, has limited accessibility. Passengers with mobility impairments are welcome but must be able to leave their mobility device to board the train, use the facilities or to move through the cars. The train is equipped with restrooms and is air conditioned. Some passengers find it cool, others warm, others just right. We recommend bringing layered clothing to accommodate your individual comfort level. Please also wear close-toed, sturdy shoes. Please arrive at the busses prepared for possible varying weather conditions. There will be car hosts/hostesses to assist. This unique passenger experience is longer than past museum excursions. Please plan for medications or unique dietary needs you might have outside of communicated snack or mealtimes. Passengers are allowed to bring a small personal bag with them onto the train. Water and an afternoon snack will be provided. Our special train is running on live track operated by Union Pacific. Therefore, we must share with other rail traffic. As a result, occasionally our train may be required to temporarily stop on a rail siding to allow freight traffic to pass. Situations may also arise where we are delayed. Should the occasional delay occur, thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. The Museum is not responsible for consequences of delays regardless of cause. The entire train is non-smoking and non-vaping. We want everyone’s trip to be fun and memorable. |
